Why is Khandi literally a Waterfall paradise?

To reach these natural wonders, I started from Pimpri, taking the old Mumbai-Pune highway to Kanhe Phata.
From Kanhe Phata, a right turn leads towards Khandi.
The journey was scenic, with lush green mountains and the tranquil backwaters of the Thokarwadi Dam accompanying me. And I just love vast rice farms on both the sides of the road.

The route is suitable for both cars and motorcycles, making it accessible for most visitors.
Once you approach this paradise, you can literally see hundreds of Waterfalls on the way. You can just stop and go to any waterfall.
Major waterfalls in this region are Bendewadi and Laalwadi waterfall. You can take your vehicles and go till the base villages of these waterfalls.

Villagers take approximately Rs 50 for car parking. They also charge a small fee for entry to the waterfalls.
Base villages are just 10 minutes away from the waterfalls. So if you are photography enthusiast, you can go first to take those lovely long exposure shots and then return back to village and leave your mobile and camera in your car securely.

After securing your electronic items, just return to the waterfalls just to stand under those beastly waters. No need to wear shoes as the trail is extremely easy. You can easily use sturdy floaters/crocs as they are extremely water friendly.
If you go around like 8 am to 9 am, probably you will be the only person near the waterfall. Weekdays are also best. Weekend afternoon can get crowded sometimes.
Post enjoying waterfalls, you can change your clothes in the homes of the villagers.
You can try some lovely authentic Maharashtrian food in the these villages.

Where to Stay in Khandi?
Since this is an offbeat destination, no commercial accomodations like hotels are available.
You can also do day trip from Pune easily.
Also you can stay with locals for an authentic village experience.
